Christmas Ornaments, Baked Goods, etc.
Help
make Christmas special for families who lost their homes (and all of
their Christmas Ornaments) in the fires. We’re collecting ornaments,
home-baked goods, christmas music and books. In this season where many
have lost items full of wonderful memories and traditions, you and your
family can spend time together helping to provide gifts for these
families to create brand new holiday memories and traditions. We're
making up Christmas Sets for 25 families and here's what we need:
1.
750-800 Ornaments (new or homemade please) - how fun would it be for
you to take your family to pick out some ornaments together
2. Baked Goods - we need a total of about 100 dozen cookies and other items - "let the baking commence"
3. 25 Christmas CD's (new please)
4. 25 Christmas Books (new please)
5. 25 decorative
items to hold everything listed above - this could be an oversized
Christmas Metal Tub, Christmas Box or Christmas Basket
6.If you would also like to donate cellophane or Christmas ribbon, we'd appreciate it.
Drop
off your items at CRB on Friday, November 30, or on Saturday morning,
December 1, from 8-9am. We’ll be assembling gift baskets from
8:30-10:30am on December 1 and would love lots of helpers. Please
email receptionist@thechurchatrb.org
if you’d like to be part of this project. Please let us know what
you'll be bringing (so we can make sure we get enough of everything)
and if you can help assemble. _________________________________________________________
Women

sessions to those families who lost homes in the fires. Sessions will
be held at The Old Poway Park, 14134 Midland Road, Poway on Sunday,
December 2 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Each family will receive a CD of
the images as their gift to survivors and their way of helping them
rebuild your family memories. Contact Joanna to schedule a session at
the park. 760-845-2006. See flier at the bottom of this email.

Erosion Control
One
of the most damaging effects of a wildfire to your land is soil
erosion. Under normal circumstances, roots help to stabilize soil,
while stems and leaves slow water down, giving it time to absorb or
soak into the soil. These protective functions can be severely
compromised or even eliminated by fires. In the aftermath of a fire,
the potential for flooding, debris flows, and erosion is greatly
increased. Fortunately there are many things you can do to protect your
home or business from the damaging effects of a fire.

Free Erosion Control Assistance
During
times of wildfire disaster, the County of San Diego offers residents of
unincorporated areas soil erosion control devices and expert advice on
their installation. These devices will be available at four Erosion
Control Homeowner Assistance (ECHA) centers. The ECHA centers will be
located at the Valley Center Road Station, Ramona Road Station, Dulzura
Fire Department, and Fallbrook Ingold Baseball Fields. The Bonita
center at the Sunnyside Fire Department has closed due to limited
response.
Hours of Operation
Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

I
am working with Nancy out of the Escondido Toys "R" Us store who asked
if we could help distribute a special Fire Victims Shopping Night flyer
for them. This shopping night is on Thursday, December 6, and is only
for the Escondido location. Proof of address will be required.
Note: They will not be doing a discount on gift cards or game systems.
I
hope you can help pass this message along. Toys "R" Us wants to get
the word out to as many families affected by the fire to help replace
things for Christmas.

applications from survivors of recent wildfires who own their own home,
but have limited resources to make the needed home renovation repairs. Applications are also available to assist low-income families, seniors and disabled homeowners, as well as community non profit facilities.

volunteer home rehabilitation organization in America. Established and
independently run in San Diego since 1995, this 501 c (3) non-profit
this grassroots organization aids the elderly, disabled and low-income
families in our community who own their own homes, but because of age,
physical limitation and low & fixed incomes, are not able to
address their housing repairs. All
work is performed at no cost to the qualifying recipients. Now in its
12th year this organization has completed over 300 projects vesting
over $6.5 million dollars in market value into the San Diego community.
On

electrical repairs to benefit qualified recipients. We will also
consider assisting community facilities in need (such as schools, community centers, shelters).

Valley Center area & Tribal Lands - 133 families

We
need some help finding travel trailers to house migrant worker families
who were displaced in the wildfires. We need a variety of sizes and
models. So far we’ve had about five donated and we’ve been able to
purchase six for $5,000 each, but we don’t have any more donated funds
at this time (I continue to ask for donations). We have leads for a
few more trailers, but it’ll be several more days before we find out if
they are in decent condition. We no longer have any families in
crisis, but there are still many families who are living with family or
friends and need to have their own homes. Some
trailers can be placed in groves, so they all don’t have to be in
perfect condition, but some might go to campgrounds where they usually
have to be 1986 or newer. Cash donations would be great of course so
we could buy trailers. We can only hope. Please let me know if you
think you can help. Even one trailer will help a family.
